I liked the saying, and I must admit, I had a slight experience of that just a while back, when my very first employer rang me!
Image via WikipediaMy very first job was in a company called National Pen in Dundalk, Co. Louth. It was 1993-1994 and at the time and I lived in Dublin and commuted to Dundalk by train( as I couldn’t drive). It was a 6 month contract selling personalized pens ( and other marketing related products) to existing National Pen customers in the Netherlands as I speak Dutch.
The first sale was the hardest, particularly as I had never done any telesales before. After that it was great fun, as I KNEW how it all worked..All I can remember is Riverdance blearing downstairs in the factory whilst we were making the calls and taking the orders.
Image via WikipediaOnce my contract was finished the Celtic Tiger really had started roaring, and I had a choice of jobs in the Dublin area, it was then a matter of where the jobs was, and how long it would take me to get there!
